World Expeditions, the active travel specialist, has announced the biggest change to its Kakadu trips in more than 25 years, with the introduction of the new Kakadu Walking Adventure.

It’s great news for travellers who want to get beyond the carparks and look-outs and into the World Heritage Area of Kakadu National Park on an exclusive, walking based itinerary.

Kakadu National Park is a World Heritage Area covering some 20,000 square kms and the new Kakadu Walking Adventure itinerary has been crafted to include a series of day walks as well as many of the “must do” experiences, such as the Yellow Waters Cruise, Jim Jim Falls, Nourlangie, Gunlom and a visit to Litchfield National Park.  Trekkers will walk up to 15km on most days, carrying just light day packs, returning each afternoon to the comfortable, semi-permanent camps.

World Expeditions has invested in Kakadu with the establishment of two new semi-permanent safari campsites and a custom built, air-conditioned, 4WD Coaster vehicle, with forward facing seats.

The semi-permanent campsites are fitted with very comfortable stretcher beds and swag mattresses. The camps are adjacent to existing national park campsites with excellent facilities, including flushing toilets and solar heated showers.  Delicious meals are prepared daily by the expert crew and the comfortable camp setting is the perfect place to relax as the sun goes down.

The 6 day trip departs Darwin weekly on Sundays between April and September and costs NZ $2,590 per person.
