KIWI: The Quadrant Auckland - Sweet Suite ApartmentsThe Quadrant is a contemporary and stylish decorated hotel that offers harbour and city vistas from most of their one and two bedroom suite apartments. Check-in is seamless. I sauntered down the long elegant white-marble walkway to the elevators, eyeing the cosy; some would call it intimate, Quad Bar that looked perfect for a nightcap.

Last week I was invited to two functions in downtown Auckland on the same night and therein lay the problem. I live, work and play on Waiheke Island, so I’m what you’d call a night-time commuter. Posh nocturnal events that offer canapés and cocktails are a great reason for me to visit Auckland but it can sometimes be a real task getting home afterwards.
I now think I’ve hit upon the answer. It’s a comfortable and stylish place to stay in the city overnight at a rate I can afford. It also means there’s no rush to catch late ferries and risk driving back home once I’m on the island after a few bevies.
Likewise, if you work in the city and commute home by car the same applies. It’s not a bad idea to sometimes leave your wheels in a safe parking spot overnight, and lay your head down occasionally in a comfy city bed for a change?
The Quadrant is just the sort of hotel that won’t dent your wallet - it’s affordable. Why hurry home on a rainy Friday in a traffic jam when you could put your feet up in your own city apartment for the night. Think about it: head out to a concert, catch a fashion show, splash out on an anniversary, or throw in a touch of romance with your loved one and then plan some Saturday shopping along with a visit to the Farmers Market at Britomart.

My sharp and stylish room had a lovely warm feel to it, inviting and well-appointed with even a specially commissioned piece of artwork. The plush queen-size bed had a really fluffy feather duvet – just how I like it. The apartment also has a fully-equipped kitchen, small dining area and two-seater couch and high-end, small but chic bathroom. A wireless-internet work desk, TV with DVD player and CD library finished the room off.
I didn’t use the Quadrant’s gymnasium, spa or sauna and instead ordered a continental in-room breakfast, choosing to stay in bed watching the sunrise across the Waitemata Harbour.
The Quadrant’s hip location is the key to the success of this nifty hotel. Sitting just up the street from the Law Courts and adjacent to the Hyatt Regency, this 2-year old property is minutes away from The Chancery, High St and Queen St and still close enough to walk to the Vector Arena or the Viaduct.
The hotel attracts a range of guests with a great mix of corporate and leisure travellers. You can choose from studio, or one and two bedroom apartments, each with private louvered balconies.
So go ahead, linger longer in Auckland and stay at the city’s most convenient address.
